Pl@ntNet — Plant Identification Citizen Science
Pl@ntNet is a French-led participatory plant-identification platform that pairs deep-learning image classifiers with community review. Operated by a consortium of four French national research institutes (Cirad, INRAE, INRIA, IRD), it has surpassed 1.45 billion plant identifications across ~78,000 species and 77 regional floras, with 50M+ users worldwide. "Research-grade" identifications flow into GBIF as Darwin Core occurrences, making Pl@ntNet the de-facto AI-assisted feeder to the global biodiversity catalog. Anchor partner of the Cos4Cloud H2020 citizen-observatory interoperability project (alongside CREAF/Joan Masó); also active in GUARDEN and MAMBO biodiversity programmes.
