GHCN — Global Historical Climatology Network (Daily)
NOAA's flagship surface-station climate archive. Aggregates daily land-surface observations from 30+ national meteorological services and ~20 collection networks into a single quality-controlled record. Backbone of long-term climate trend analysis, extreme-event attribution, and satellite precipitation / land-surface-temperature calibration. GHCN-Daily is the canonical version; GHCN-Monthly v4 provides the temperature-anomaly series used in IPCC AR6.
