AERONET — Aerosol Robotic Network

Global federation of ground-based sun-photometer stations measuring aerosol optical depth (AOD), water vapor, and aerosol microphysical properties. NASA-led, ~600 stations operating across all continents. The canonical calibration/validation reference for satellite AOD retrievals (MODIS, VIIRS, Sentinel-5P/TROPOMI, Sentinel-3 OLCI).
