iNaturalist — Community Species Observations

iNaturalist is the world's largest general-purpose citizen-science biodiversity platform — a joint initiative of the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society. Observers submit photo/audio-backed species occurrences; community identification raises records to "Research Grade" (community consensus on a verifiable taxon), which are then auto-pushed to GBIF on a near-daily cadence. The single largest contributor of citizen-science records to GBIF; covers all taxonomic kingdoms (vs eBird's birds-only scope) and is the de-facto global pollinator/plant/fungi/herpetofauna observation feed.
