World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA)

The World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) is the most comprehensive global database of marine and terrestrial protected areas, maintained by UNEP-WCMC and IUCN. Updated monthly, it contains over 270,000 protected areas covering more than 245 million km2. The database includes nationally designated protected areas, internationally recognized sites (UNESCO World Heritage, Ramsar, etc.), and community conserved areas. Used as the reference dataset for tracking progress toward global biodiversity targets.
