CHIRPS v2.0 Precipitation
CHIRPS (Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data) is a quasi-global rainfall dataset spanning 50+ years at 0.05 degree (~5.5km) resolution. It combines satellite imagery with in-situ station data to create gridded rainfall time series for trend analysis and seasonal drought monitoring. Covers 50S-50N, all longitudes. Available at daily, pentadal (5-day), dekadal (10-day), and monthly time steps. Widely used for food security early warning, agricultural monitoring, and hydrological modeling in data-sparse regions.
