GRIP4 Global Roads Inventory

The Global Roads Inventory Project version 4 (GRIP4) provides a harmonized global roads dataset compiled from government and commercial sources. It contains over 21 million km of roads classified into 5 types based on importance (highways, primary, secondary, tertiary, local/urban). The dataset was created to support global biodiversity and environmental impact assessments, particularly road ecology studies analyzing habitat fragmentation, roadkill risk, and accessibility modeling.
