Light Use Efficiency
vegetationbiosphere
Efficiency with which absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (APAR)
is converted into fixed carbon by vegetation. Down-regulated under stress
(heat, drought, nutrient limitation) via the xanthophyll cycle, detectable
in narrow-band reflectance around 531 nm. Used in light-use-efficiency
models (e.g. MOD17 GPP) and observable proxies like PRI.
